Now that Coach K is done, here's a list of guys off the top of my head who makes sense for the next Olympic basketball team. This is the first blog entry on my new Nexus 7 tablet. These will be a little shorter as a 7 inch screen isn't really conducive to developing deep thought processes.
John Calipari
He already coaches a pro team so he would be used to dealing with stars. I also think college coaches fit well with international play because of the playing style (lots of inside-out play and 3 pointers) and the fact it's a 40 minute game.

Doc Rivers
He pretty much just said he'd take the job if offered on NBC. His hands off coaching style would work well on Team USA. Plus his players would run through a brick wall for him

Doug Collins
He's been around the program for a long time and it would be nice to see him get some retribution for the massive screw job on Team USA in Munich in 1972.

Gregg Poppovich
Because he's the best coach on the planet and everyone respects him. He also would have the best reactions to the God-awful officiating in the Olympics.

Bill Self
I'm only kind of being a Kansas homer with this one.

Self has been one of the best college coaches out there for a long time now. His inside-out offense compliments the international game well and his philosophy of placing trust in his players would fit well on a team of superstars.
Phil Jackson
You think he doesn't have a tiny itch to still coach? It's not like coaching Team USA would be a huge time commitment for him. He'd still have plenty of time to get baked and read Hindu literature in his bunker in Montana.

Tom Izzo
Fits the Coach K/Bill Self mold of a great coach who has been around for a long time. Plus his players adore him.
Rick Pitino
Team USA's defense was not good in the tournament. His high pressure full court style would fit well with our stockpile of elite athletes. He would be a boon to the cocktail waitress industry in Rio as well.

Vinny Del Negro
The silver medalists didn't play their 3rd best player for more than 10-15 minutes every game except for the gold and they lost track of their second best player's fouls in the first half which lead to him picking up 4. Needless to say, the coaching in international play has not improved along with the players. Maybe Team USA should go the other direction and try to give the rest of the world somewhat of a chance.

George Karl
He checks the "everyone respects him" box. His gym rat mentality would be a welcome addition to the team now that Kobe is gone.

Kobe Bryant
Speaking of...And no, I'm not serious...But I'm not joking either...Maybe he could be an assistant...

No One
Because as Team USA just demonstrated, when their best players are playing at their best, no one on the planet can beat them.
