I have no words for what just happened but I'm going to try to form some anyway. This is the third time in four games that Tim Tebow has made Bronco fans pine for the days of Danny Kanell for 55 minutes. Then, in the final 5 minutes Tebow makes every play under the sun, culminating in a 20 yard touchdown run that seemed almost poetic. For 59 minutes the Jets defense smothered Tebow; dominating J.D. Walton and Chris Kuper to the point where the Broncos abandoned Willis McGahee and the power run game almost altogether. Then, on a 3rd and 3, Tebow saw an opening.
The Broncos had converted three straight third and shorts with Tebow sneaks up the middle. The Jets sold out up the middle and Tebow noticed this right before the snap. He had been scratching and clawing and surviving for 59 minutes, waiting for this opportunity. Tebow darted up the right side past the Jets' 8 man blitz. Tebow ran past Brian Leohnard around the edge of the blitz and found that moment that makes him such an enigma. That moment where he turns from one of the last quarterbacks you would want to have with the ball in their hands to one of the best. Tebow was one on one with the corner; historically, this has not been a good matchup for the corner. Tebow shrugged him off like a gnat and scampered into the end zone, unleashing a primal scream that was echoed across Bronco country (at least in my apartment it was). Touchdown Broncos - game over - and now if the Raiders lose, the Broncos are tied for first place. Buckle your seat belt Bronco fans, win or lose, this is gonna get crazy.
